I owe a lot to Ganguly: Yuvraj { TOI NEWS }

  Pune Warriors India captain Yuvraj Singh in conversation with The Times Of India dwelled on his homecoming:
Pune Warriors India captain Yuvraj Singh
Q: Back to where it all started, how does it feel to be back 'home'?

It is always a great feeling coming back to Chandigarh and meeting family members and old friends. Coming back to sector-16 stadium where I learnt my trade and PCA stadium in Mohali where I honed my skills always have a special place in my heart.

Q: Pune Warriors won their first game against KXIP. Did the win have a sense of vindication as you were reportedly not happy with the team owners for having dropped you from captaincy in the third edition of IPL?

Revenge was never on my mind as we as players have to focus on our performance and not worry about such matters. Unfortunately, I was going through a really bad patch last year and removal from captaincy and subsequent injuries on tours with Team India did not help matters.

Q: How do you rate the progress made by Pune Warriors in their debut IPL season?

Obviously things have not been good as we have lost seven games in a row and although we have proven match-winners in the team, yet we could not click together as a team. Plus the fact that the IPL started a week after Cricket World Cup 2011 finals so we hardly had any time to gel together. Having said that, the rest of the teams also had the same amount of time to get ready for IPL 4 but have fared much better than us.

Q: Will Sourav Ganguly play on Sunday against Kings XI Punjab? How does it feel now that you are captain and Dada is a player in the team?

I owe Dada a lot for all the faith that he placed in me when I just broke into the national team. I guess I felt a little sad when he was not picked by any team in IPL 4. As regards him playing on Sunday in Mohali, we will take a decision after assessing his fitness.
