Bangalore-Royal-Challengers
Owing to the commitment of going
green Royal Challengers Bangalore

will don green outfits instead of the
traditional dainty red in their match
against the Kochi Tuskers Kerala on
Sunday May 8.

This was revealed by
the Royal Challenger ’s Sports Director
Siddharth Mallya
on Wednesday.
Being the first team in the Indian
Premier League to adopt the go
green initiative last year RCB has left
no stone unturned in bringing about
green awareness amongst their fans
through their website and the RCB
forum. This attempt would be a
fundraiser to renovate the
Chinnaswamy Stadium, according to
Junior Mallya.
“ Going green can be considered as
being part of Corporate Social
Responsibility, ” said the suave
director of RC. He reiterated that as a
responsible franchise, RC wanted to
avoid the easy path, saying “Buying
credits simply does not show that
anything has been done for the
environment. ” He stressed that real
work needed to be done and the
unique flavor of the initiative was
that it was fan driven.
The RCB players would wear the
green outfit for just one match
against the Tuskers and then it
would be autographed by the
players and auctioned on the RCB
website. In their effort to reduce the
carbon footprint in the city RCB is the
first team in the world to go green
and implement various environment
friendly initiatives like the
carpooling method and using public
transport once a month. Planting
more than 1000 trees in various
schools has also been an eminent
part of the green initiative by the
Royal Challengers.
